Jeff Anshel, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Posted: September 2, 2011

Jeffrey Anshel, OD is passionate in his desire to educate consumers and professionals about the relationship between nutrition and eye health and computer vision concerns. A RevolutionEHR user since 2007, he is the founding director and president of the Ocular Nutrition Society (ONS), a non-profit organization committed to improving eye health through proper nutrition.

A prolific author and lecturer, Dr. Anshel graduated in 1975 from the Illinois College of Optometry. In 1987, Dr. Anshel began a practice in a holistic center, and quickly began to recognize the impact of nutrition on eye health. However, he discovered there was a significant lack of science-based evidence in the field. The ONS seeks to fill that gap by educating doctors on the science of eye care. They sponsor live presentations (prior to every Academy meeting and one in the spring) bringing in experts from the nutrition science field. This year, one OD, two MDs and three PhDs will be speaking. (For more about the Ocular Nutrition Society, visit their website.)

In addition to maintaining a private practice in Carlsbad, CA, Dr. Anshel is the principal of Corporate Vision Consulting, which provides educational materials, eye exams and consulting seminars for corporations to help reduce employee eye strain associated with computer use.

We’re pleased to have Dr. Anshel as part of our RevolutionEHR community.
