What Does "DME", "NVE' and "NVD" Stand for in the EHR?

You will see abbreviations throughout the different tests in the EHR, which are used to shorten up longer phrases. You will find DME and NVE included in the test for “fundus” and you will find NVD in the test for “Optic Nerve. Here are the explanations:

  • DME is Diabetic Macular Edema
  • NVE is Neovascularization Elsewhere (in diabetes)
  • NVD is Neovascularization of the Disc (in diabetes)
