In administration> Encounters> Encounter Templates you have a list of your different exam types. Each one of those encounter templates can be configured with sub categories. When the appointment is scheduled, your staff can choose the appropriate type of encounter and then they can also chose a sub category. I have included a screen shot below that will show you an example of a medical office visit with sub categories. The sub categories that I set up for this template are red eye, foreign body, OV follow up and floaters/ flashes which are just a few examples. Remember to click ‘update’ after you have added your sub categories.
