Polaris Initiative Update from Dr. Jens
Posted: November 20, 2014

As we look forward to Release 6.2.5 this evening, I wanted to take a moment to highlight our progress on the Polaris Initiative – our initiative to deliver more freedom to you, our customers, by transforming the user experience of RevolutionEHR.

As a reminder, the goals of the Polaris Initiative have and continue to be as follows:

  • More efficiency with even faster load times, work flow optimization and overall performance.
  • More accessibility with additional device, tablet, and iPad functionality.
  • More power with additional configuration and personalization options.
  • More interoperability with enhanced, secure data sharing and connectivity.

For the “nerds” among our community (admit it, you know who you are) the Polaris improvements can technically be described as the move away from Adobe Flash to HTML5 with a robust underlying architecture designed to deliver the application faster, more efficient and on any device – and yes, that means iPads.

Speaking of iPads, I know that is probably one of the more exciting aspects of each Polaris update – the ability for you to access these areas of the application on an iPad.  Plus we’re taking the opportunity not to just “work” an iPad, but to, well, “kick butt” on an iPad – as well as other tablet and mobile devices.

With each release beginning with v6.2.0 we have introduced incremental updates of the new user experience.  We began with a new Messaging Module and with v6.2.5 we are introducing a new user experience for the Tasks Module along with a few other enhancements.

Finally, as we continue to roll out each update to the new experience, I want to share with you a bit about what goes on leading up to the day of release.

Beta Process

We have a group of users that have volunteered to beta test the new user experience updates (as well as other new features) prior to release.  We provide them access, solicit their feedback and apply as much of their input as possible before releasing the updates to our entire community.  This beta process allows us to best anticipate the customer views and to deliver the proper support following the release.

Sandbox Sneak Peaks

Recently, we have been pushing new releases to our Sandbox environment a few days before the release so that you can become familiar with the new user experience updates with a “sneak peak” prior to seeing them live in production.  I’d encourage you and your staff to spend a few minutes in the Sandbox when you have time a few days before each release.  This opportunity will best prepare your entire team for the changes before the release goes live.

We’re excited about the new user experience we are delivering with the Polaris Initiative, all to bring you even more freedom to focus on patient care.  Our development team is pleased with the progress on transforming the user experience, while continuing to deliver customer-requested enhancements as part of an ongoing rhythmic approach to software improvement.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, I’m available at any time by email:  sjens@revolutionehr.com.

Best regards,

Scott
